Red Cross Children’s Hospital is the largest children’s hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa. It provides all levels of multidisciplinary care at an international level whilst taking in to account the limitations of being located in a resource poor country. The neurology service sees rare and complex diseases (epilepsy, neurometabolic, neurodegenerative, neuromuscular disorders).
We cannot accept direct parent consultations or bookings. A referral must come via the main caring physician with a specific management question that can only be addressed in our service. Unfortunately, we do not have capacity to offer second opinions.

Paediatric Neurodevelopment Team
We cannot accept direct parent consultations or bookings. Referral must come via the main caring physician with a specific management question that can only be addressed in our service. We do accept referrals from psychologists and speech therapists/OT’s but only if the child has also been seen by a GP or paediatrician first (this is to primarily to exclude medical conditions that may need to be addressed while they wait to be seen).
To send to your referring medical practitioner
Dear Colleague
If you would like to refer a patient to the following clinics:
- Neurodevelopmental Clinic
- Cerebral Palsy Clinic
- High Risk clinic
Please would you complete the form available online at this address: https://tinyurl.com/y4843v4q
Please note that our waiting lists can be long and referring a patient does not always mean that we will necessarily be able to see the child. We will however reply to all referrals if we are not able to see the child.
