Dr Serini Murugasen
Research Interests
I am a paediatric neurologist and specialist paediatrician working across both public and private sectors, including the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. I also serve as a Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Cape Town. My professional interests include child neurology and neurodevelopment, the genetics of childhood neurological conditions, public health and the ethics of childcare.
I have published on a variety of these subjects and am involved in the oversight of various projects that support and develop education and training in childhood neurological conditions. These projects also seek to build collaborative networks both nationally and internationally through my affiliations with the International League Against Epilepsy and the Future Leaders of the International Child Neurology Association.
My work aims to better the understanding and treatment of neurological conditions affecting children, and to support the development of paediatric neurology expertise within South Africa.
