Research Interests

I have a special interest in understanding the functional relationship between cells of the brain and those of the immune system. We apply cell culture-based models as well as mouse models to investigate disease progression and pathological development during M. tuberculosis infection of the central nervous system. We combine these with state of the art cellular and molecular tools as well as microscopy imaging techniques to gain insight into protein and gene expression profiles and spacial regulation of inflammation. An important aspect of our work is to identify key neuroimmune regulators of homeostasis during CNS-TB that will lead to the development of novel therapeutics and interventions.
