Associate Professor Ursula Rohlwink

Research Interests

I am nested within the Paediatric Neurosurgery research enterprise, the African Brain Child Initiative. Our goal is to improve our understanding of the disease processes that drive brain injury so that we can tailor patient treatment to reduce brain damage and improve outcome. I am involved in projects on tuberculous meningitis and traumatic brain injury, both of which are major burdens of disease locally, continentally and globally. I work across our clinical and basic science laboratories where we develop and combine high level patient data (e.g. multimodality brain monitoring) and innovative research techniques (e.g. -omics analysis). I hold a Wellcome International Intermediate Fellowship and am a visiting scientist at the Francis Crick Institute in London.
