Research Interests

My research focuses on cognitive impairment and the neurology of HIV infection. I am co-PI of the CONNECT study, investigating the CNS effects of the programmatic shift from efavirenz- to dolutegravir-based antiretroviral therapy in Cape Town. I am PI of the Ingqondo study, funded by the Donald Gordon Foundation and Race Against Dementia, which examines inflammatory and infective mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease. I chair the International HIV-Cognition Working Group, reframing criteria for cognitive impairment in people living with HIV.
