Research Interests
I am an educator, clinician, and leading expert in chronic pain care and advocacy. I am Director of the Pain Management Unit at UCT and I work at the Groote Schuur Hospital Chronic Pain Management Clinic, where my research focuses on pain mechanisms and context-specific treatments in South Africa. I also convene Africa’s first Postgraduate Diploma in Interdisciplinary Pain Management and co-edited the book Understanding Pain. Unravelling the physiology, assessment, and management of pain through South African stories, an open-access resource aimed at health professionals.
