Dr Melike M Fourie

Melike, who has a background in neuropsychology and whose research focusses on social neuroscience, helped develop UCT's most interdisciplinary degree on offer - the Master of Neuroscience (MNeuroSc), which was accredited by the end of 2024. 

In 2025 she sheperded the first cohort of 11 exceptional students through the programme, which includes courses from 7 different departments and 3 different faculties. The programme is designed to take any student with a 4-year degree/honours and give them a high intensity 'crash course' in many of the different neuro disciplines. This course aims to create an avenue into a neuroscience PhD for bright, young, minds who have been trained to think differently and who can then apply their way of thinking to new neuro frontiers.
