Research Interests
As part of the Imaging Science group, my research investigates the effects on the brain of prenatal exposure to potential teratogens, including methamphetamine and alcohol, and maternal HIV infection and ART. Using MRI, we investigate associations between such exposures and changes in brain morphology and microstructure, and whether these changes mediate exposure-related functional alterations. I have particularly focused on imaging during the neonatal period, when the impact of the postnatal environment is minimal. I am also involved in investigating the potential of gestational maternal choline supplementation to mitigate the effects of prenatal alcohol exposure on brain structure and function.
