Research Interests

I am a political theorist interested in African political thought, intellectual history, and the politics of knowledge production in and about Africa. I am leading a Wellcome Trust Research Development Programme (WTRDP) that explores how knowledge from the African humanities could or should inform debates around the ethics of new and emerging health technologies. I am interested in leveraging African scholarship to inform both the concepts that shape ethical deliberation (like personhood, justice, and moral responsibility) and the boundaries of what counts as ethics.
