Dr Annerine Roos (in memoriam)

White Matter Researcher, Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health

It is with immense sadness that we wish to let the UCT community know of the passing of Dr Annerine Roos, a Senior Research Officer in the Dept of Psychiatry and Mental Health.

Research Interests

My field of research cover Psychiatry and Brain Imaging. I have a special interest in white matter tracts of the brain. I investigate this and associated areas in adults with psychiatric disorders including obsessive-compulsive disorder, major depression and Parkinson’s disease. Much of this work happens as part of the international ENIGMA brain imaging consortium that aims to inform underlying neural mechanisms in psychiatric disorders. I also study white matter in children with prenatal exposure to substances and maternal depression. Brain imaging findings are associated with behavioral, cognitive and genetic data to understand clinical signs of psychiatric and other neural disorders.
