The Royal Society of South Africa has awarded the John F. W. Herschel Medal to Professor and Chair of Psychiatry, Dan Stein, in recognition of Highly Distinguished Multidisciplinary Contributions to the furtherance of Science.

For his contributions in the fields of neuroscience, clinical psychiatric research, and mental health epidemiology. Contributions to the field of clinical neuroscience in general, and anxiety and related conditions in particular, have exemplified excellence in truly multi-disciplinary research.
