Inaugural lecture of Prof Kirsty Donald
Wed the 10th May 2023 saw Prof Kirsty Donald, Deputy Director of the Neuroscience Institute, deliver her inaugural lecture to a full auditorium.
Her talk was entitled: "Context matters: Risk and resilience in early childhood brain development" and articulated the factors affecting developing minds and how our African context matters when comparing statistics to European databases. Efforts are underway to increase the African contingent of worldwide genetic datasets amongst other interventions that will significantly improve brain development in children. Prof Donald has become truly instrumental in this space and has amassed an incredibly large research team all focussed on doing, arguably, some of the most important work there is.
